Notice the "Should"
Today’s Awareness scavenger hunt: Catch a “should.” I should call. I should stay. I should be grateful. I should want this. I should be further along. I should be able to handle it. Now ask: “Whose voice is that?” Maybe it’s yours. Maybe it belongs to a parent, partner, boss, culture, community, or an old version of you. You don't have to throw the should away. Just find out who put it there.

Notice the "Should"
The Question Before the Answer
We love answers. Especially when we’re uncomfortable. Awareness asks us to become better question-askers. Instead of: “What should I do?” Try: “What is true for me right now?” Instead of: “How do I fix this?” Try: “What am I noticing?” Instead of: “Why can't I just…” Try: “What do I actually need?” The right question can create more movement than a very impressive answer.

The Question Before the Answer
Awareness Without Judgment 👀
One of the hardest parts of Awareness? Seeing something clearly without immediately deciding whether it’s “good” or “bad.” 😬 “I’m resentful.” “I don’t want to go.” “I’m jealous.” “I’m tired.” “I actually love this.” “I don’t know anymore.” And then comes the courtroom. ⚖️ What does this say about me? Should I feel this way? What’s wrong with me? I really need to work on this. Whoa, girl. 😂 Can you let the observation exist before you put it on trial? Try replacing judgment with curiosity: “Huh. Interesting.” 🤔 That’s it. No fixing. No diagnosing. No twelve-step plan for why you’re feeling what you’re feeling. Just…notice. You are allowed to gather information about yourself without turning yourself into a problem to solve. Awareness isn’t about judging what you find. It’s about being willing to see what’s there. 💜 And honestly? That can be pretty radical.

Update on Awareness Experience in Classroom
I've been busy creating the first experience that will always be open and available to you all-the founding members of Radical Unbecoming. The video below gives a little more information. Once it's ready, I will be looking for honest feedback. 💜🩵 I'm down to 29 days until retirement, and wrapping up business for the interim director who will take my role until a new director is hired. I cannot wait to have more time to work on this and what comes next in Radical Unbecoming! Thank you, friends, for your patience!

 What Gets Your Attention?
Awareness isn't only about what feels bad. It’s also about what pulls you toward aliveness. What makes you lose track of time? What conversation leaves you energized? What makes you think, “Oh. THERE I am.” What are you curious about even though it doesn't seem particularly practical? Notice that, too. Sometimes the path back to yourself isn't hidden in the problem. Sometimes it’s hiding in what lights you up. Radical Reflection: What has been quietly calling my attention lately?
