Proverbs - The mouth has the ability to destroy, keep your mouth clean, speak life into others and use your words in a manner to glorify God. Font gossip, keep things people tell you in confidence and honor it as a secret. Be upright in your dealings, seek guidance and wisdom in decisions, avoid putting up money or “security” for anyone else as it’ll end in suffering. God fulfilling promises. Israel continues to take land, but are unable to drive out all of the people, so they lived amongst the Israelites. An angel of the lord came to them and said that these people will serve as a stumbling block for Israel, they will distract with their gods and eat of life… what a direct look at life today, we have a culture with many religions and many secular influences too, all having the opportunity to distract us from Jesus and take our attention. We must do whatever we can to cleanse our environments, including our community, our relationships, and our intake of media and music

Joshua - Joshua gives a final speech to the Israelite as he prepares to pass away, a reminder of all the lord has done, all the ground he has given them, all the success he has paved the way for them, all the bondage and slavery he pulled them out of. A charge to continue to give the lord glory and not worship other gods or idols. I love how faithful the Lord is. And how quick he is to accept me back when I turn my back on him, when I sin, when I don’t defend him, when I boast. Lord thank you for taking me back time and time again. “As for me and my household, we will serve the lord” - A mantra in my household

Proverbs - Pride and ego are sneaky and show up in many ways. I’ve been alert lately to when I feel defensive, it’s pride driven normally, and also points out my need for approval. Wealth is worthless in the day of wrath, it’s imperative to use it as a tool and not a foundation, store up treasures in heaven daily. Wickedness catches up to you, at some point it’ll be exposed, it’ll trip you up, it’ll fall apart. Live upright, don’t cut centers, be disciplined and obey God. John - the holy spirit came down like a dove and remained on Jesus. What a visual, what a gift to have received the same spirit. Lord give me the sight to walk in step with the spirit, and not the flesh. Andrew knew immediately that Jesus was messiah, he heard John say it and he took that as enough to follow Jesus. John had influence, Andrew followed him, lord make me a man of influence that leads men to follow Jesus. Philip had no deceit according to Jesus. He was honest, trustworthy, full of integrity, authentic and transparent. We all need a phillip in our lives, Who is your Phillip? Joshua - the promised land was still being possessed by canaanites, the Israelites had to work and establish possession. God will give us blessings, but we have to walk in trust and boldness to go out, take action, have faith and take / receive what he’s giving you.
