Quote 1: “You must not let anyone define your limits because of where you came from. Your only limit is your soul.” - Gusteau, Ratatouille
Quote 2: “The only limits we have for tomorrow are the doubts we have today.” - Pittacus Lore, The Power of Six
Ratatouille is an animated Pixar Animations Studio movie which was released on June 29, 2007. Remy gets lucky and finds himself in the sewers of Paris which gets him into the restaurant of the famous culinary champion Auguste Gusteau. Remy’s passion for cooking sets into motion the story of this movie as he tries to enter the culinary world despite the hardships of being an unwanted visitor in this french restaurant. If you weren’t aware, the movie’s title refers to the French food ratatouille.
Ratatouille’s quote explains how limits should not be defined by anyone because of anything. We should not set limits on ourselves because what we think we should do and no one should ever impose limitations on our abilities. We can and we will continue to grow, adapt, and change to improve ourselves. The limit is not who we are now but who we choose to be in the future. Our limit is the extent that the passion in our soul delivers us to our goals.
The Power of Six was written by Pittacus Lore and published on August 23, 2011. The book is the second book in the young adult science fiction series Lorien Legacies. The book follows multiple numbers of the Garde group, but mainly John (Number Four) and Marina (Number Seven). The entire book focuses on the interplanetary battle between good and evil as 9 children from the planet Lorien are sent to earth with the guardians known as Cepans when their own home planet is under attack. The book starts with John on the run from the FBI and the ruthless Mogardorians–the beings who attacked their home planet–alongside Sam and Six. Marina, who lived in Spain up to this point with her Cepan Adelina who wants Marina to survive instead of developing a “legacy” to fight the invaders, has been kept away from all of the major conflict. She eventually learns of John’s story and tries to find him since she must be a part of the Garde.
The Power of Six’s quote explains that our limits of tomorrow are whatever doubts we have for today. We can make tomorrow as phenomenal as we want it to be, but we need to move past today’s problems and issues in order to make tomorrow exponentially better. There is so much that we can do when we are able to pass by our current problems and forge the next step our future to be just a little bit stronger, farther, and better.
