Creed is a sports drama film which continued the Rocky Balboa film series after it ended in 2006 with this installment releasing on November 25th, 2015. Creed follows Rocky Balboa, a former heavyweight champion, mentoring Adonis Johnson who is the son of Rocky’s late friend and rival Apollo Creed. The movie also marked producer Warner Brother’s 40th anniversary. This spinoff movie eventually became its own series with Creed II and Creed III in 2018 and 2023 respectively. Adonis was born after his father died in a boxing match, yet he wants to follow his father’s footsteps. He meets with Rocky who eventually decides to help Adonis with his boxing. The rest of the movie follows the beginning of Adonis’s boxing journey.

Creed’s quote explains that we have to stop talking and just listen in order to learn. Rocky knows this himself as an older figure and mentor to Adonis. While we may automatically not speak when we are trying to listen to someone in a lecture or a speech, this also applies whenever someone else is trying to speak with you. There is so much that we can miss in life by talking over things instead of stepping back for a minute to listen to others and hear their perception. Learning is the reward of listening.

A Star is Born is a musical romantic drama released on October 5th, 2018. The movie focuses on seasoned musician Jackson Maine–who is played by Bradley Cooper–who discovers and falls in love with a rising yet struggling artist, Ally, played by Lady Gaga. Ally was about to give up on her dream of being a singer and entering the spotlight until Jack helped her into the spotlight. Ally’s career skyrockets because of Jack’s assistance, but Jack’s relationship with Ally turns for the worse as it breaks down. Jack’s own music career begins to enter a downward spiral as Jack fights his inner demons due to age and alcohol crashing his hopes for a continuation of his successful career. The movie is the 4th adaptation of the story where the first version was made in 1937.

A Star Is Born’s quote explains that anyone can have the talent to succeed, and that this talent came from anyone, anywhere. The other part of the quote explains that when you want to explain something to someone and make an impact, a major portion of making your message hit is explaining it in a way that people will listen to your lesson. We may never know what kind of impact we could have if we don’t try and spread our impact to make people listen to it in the best way possible.
