🐾 Training Challenges – What You Need to Know
I’m excited to introduce our Training Challenges, created especially for members with Premium Membership. (This includes anyone I’m currently working with face-to-face, as well as those who have purchased Premium – please see the pinned post at the top of the page for full membership details.) These challenges are designed to help you take your puppy’s core learning to the next level. We’ll be building on the skills your dog already knows by gradually adding: - ⏱ Duration - 🌍 Distractions - 📏 Distance - 🏡 Real-life scenarios We’ll also be introducing some new skills that are incredibly helpful for both young puppies and teenage dogs, and easy to implement into everyday life. 📅 How the Training Challenges Work Every Monday I’ll post the details of the weekly challenge in the Classroom, under Training Challenges. On our Wednesday call, we’ll: - Talk through the challenge in more detail - Work through any obstacles you’re experiencing - Discuss how to adapt and progress the challenge for your individual dog The Rest of the WeekYou then have a go in your own time: - You only need 5 minutes at a time - Very little space is required (I’ll even be demonstrating some exercises with my own dog in my living room!) - Record a short video of your practice - Post it in the group and receive feedback and guidance These challenges are all about progress, not perfection. Go at your dog’s pace, keep it fun, and use the group for support 💛 If you have any questions before we get started, just pop them in the comments below. Get stuck in straight away: This week's training challenge is all about building on the basic 'SIT' with an exercise called 'Sit When I Stop, Walk When I Walk'. A valuable skill which can be taken on a walk and can be useful for situations such as: - Stopping to cross the roas - Stopping to pick up poop - Stopping to have a chat with soemoen in the street - Tieing up your shoelaces And so much more! Take a look, have a go, post videos for feedback or comment with any questions or obstacles!
