I've always been interested in and fascinated by strength since I was 5 or 6 years old. Whether it was from watching "Hercules" type movies with Steve Reeves, learning about Samson from the Bible, or through comic book superheroes, getting bigger and stronger was a huge goal. I've never really been what I would consider exceptionally strong, but the fascination has remained. The first 'Strongman" competition I saw was on television when I was in college. I think it was CBS that aired their new show, The World's Strongest Man Competition. Even though my college gym was mostly football players and competitive powerlifters (one of whom went on to win the World Games in 81), by then, I was obsessed with bodybuilding. The fact that 3 of the competitors on that first show were well-known bodybuilders (Lou Ferrigno, Franco Columbu, and Mike Dayton) was more than enough to get me hooked.
