Did anyone have problems with chapter labelling?
Hello everyone and
While working on my outline, I got this message from the PF assistant (I made just a few tweaks):
< < As we discussed, I strongly recommend moving the Table of Contents, QRcode page etc. etc. into a "Front Matter" category (using labels like Preface or Introduction).
Why? On Amazon’s "Look Inside" feature, the first 10% of your book is visible for free. Because your front matter is currently 3,400+ words across five "chapters," a potential buyer might spend their entire preview reading about the book without ever seeing a word of the core of your book.
Re-labeling ensure "Chapter 1: blablablah" appears as early as possible in the preview to hook the reader. >>
So, I tried relabelling once or twice, but I noticed it didn’t just move things around, it actually deleted some parts, so I stopped doing it. I noticed that the black labels of the chapters at first turned to light blue, and then at a certain point it all went back to black.
After that, PF kept asking me the same question over and over, but I kept saying no. I’m a bit scared to change it because I don’t want anything to get erased or moved.
❓ So my questions are :
👉 Can the chapter labelling be done later on, once the book has been written? Is it the same thing? I guess yes but I’m not sure.
👉 Is this how Amazon really works? It shows 10% of your book, but only if the chapter are labelled in a certain way?
