Im working on my backstory and Im just looking for both good and critical feedback. Here is what I have:
This seems long, but if you take the time to read it, you'll know who I am at the core...
People often ask me, ‘Richard, why did you create the Major living Program for seniors?’
And to answer that, I have to take you back a little bit…
When I was in my early 20s, I was a professional kickboxer.
I loved training and staying healthy and always improving, and honestly — I just wanted a discount on supplements! So I got a job at GNC, which at the time was the place to go for fitness and nutrition.
However, something unexpected began to happen. People would come into the store with all kinds of issues — low energy, joint pain, digestion — and they’d come back weeks later saying, ‘Hey Richard, that helped. Thank you.’
And that’s when I realized something really powerful: I loved helping people feel better.”
That feeling pushed me to study nutrition and then eventually work at the hospital. But as much as I wanted to help with food and wellness there, I wasn’t really being heard. Until one day, I noticed a therapy program running for seniors.
I started learning everything I could, became a Therapist Assistant, and before long, I was running group exercise programs for seniors in long-term rehabilitation at the local hospital. These included people recovering from hip and knee replacements, amputations, and a lot were struggling with balance and mobility.
And I’ll be honest, it wasn’t perfect at first.
I had to experiment, try new exercises, and adjust again and again. But then, after years of refining, something amazing happened — people started getting real results.
I could see it! They were steadier. Stronger. More confident.
And the best part — they weren’t coming back to the hospital. I knew the program was working!
But then life threw me a curveball. My best friend — someone I’d known for 35 years — passed away suddenly from a heart attack. I was devastated. I didn’t know how to process it, and I needed something, anything, to help me move forward.
Scott loved BBQ’s so, I started a barbecue cleaning business in his honour. It may sound random, but it gave me purpose again for a while. I built it up to hundreds of clients — and yet, deep down, I knew something was missing.
Because as proud as I was to honor him, I wasn’t honoring myself.
My heart wasn’t in it. My passion was always helping seniors — seeing them light up when they felt strong again, steady again, alive again.
That’s when I decided to take everything I’d learned — all those years in the hospital, every exercise that truly worked — and put it into one program.
That’s how the Major Living Strength and Balance System was born.
Now I get to help seniors all over regain their strength, improve their balance, and move with confidence again — safely, from home.
And honestly, I feel like everything I’ve done up to this point has led me here — right here, with you — sharing what really works.
*I'd LOVE your feedback anyone!
