Even in Chaos Jesus Chose Mercy
I am watching The Passion of the Christ, and there is a moment that always stops me in my tracks.
In the middle of betrayal, fear, violence, and chaos, when a sword is swung and a soldier’s ear is cut off, Jesus does something completely unexpected.
He heals him.
Right there.
No anger.
No retaliation.
No self-defense.
Jesus reaches out and restores what was broken, even while being arrested, even while knowing the cross is moments away.
This is the heart of Christ.
When the world reacts in violence, Jesus responds in mercy. When others are hurting Him, He is still healing them.When chaos is loud, love is still at work.
Luke 22:51 KJV“And Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him.”
That is our Savior.That is the Kingdom.And that is the example He left for us to follow.
Lord, help us choose mercy when everything around us screams otherwise in Jesus name. Amen.
