Skill focus, verbal and external cues for juniors
When you’re teaching juniors new skills do you stick to the lesson plan? Or do you persist until there’s a level of mastery and confidence increase in the group. This week, we found by using some external cues and introducing racing into some of the wicket runs that we normally do, we began to see the skill focus that were after without having to cue too much. What do you guys do in your programs? Do you follow the set rule or do you read what’s going on and spend a bit longer in a particular area, if you’re making progress in what may have been a sticking point for some of the athletes in the group?
