🌿 How to Tell if Your Plant is Thirsty
If you don’t have clear nursery pots ! Before you grab the watering can, use these three reliable methods to see if your plant actually needs a drink: 1. The Finger Test: Stick your finger about 2 inches into the substrate. If it feels dry and crumbly, it’s likely time to water. If it feels cool and damp, wait a few more days. 2. The Weight Test: Pick up your pot. Wet substrate is heavy, while dry substrate is surprisingly light. Over time, you’ll be able to tell just by lifting the pot if it's "empty." 3. The Chopstick Method: If you don't want to get your hands dirty, slide a wooden chopstick deep into the pot. If it comes out clean and dry, water it. If it comes out dark with bits of damp substrate clinging to it, the roots still have plenty of moisture. Tip: When in doubt, wait a day. It is much easier to revive a slightly thirsty plant than one with root rot from too much love!
