Lesson Two: How to Choose the Right Breathing Exercises for Your Body
We breathe ourselves into the shape we're in. Imagine molten lava shaping the landscape after a volcano. Each breath that we take creates changes in our internal landscape. From the position of our ribs to the pressures inside our chest, back and belly our breath shapes the architecture of the human body. Try the two exercises in this video. Notice which one seems to have the greatest impact on helping you breathe into parts of your body that you may not have experienced. The most rebellious act in a culture desensitized to itself is learning to feel fully. Share your experience with the group!

I didn’t even start my Facebook group, but I did a quick poll on my IG, because I was too excited to start and wanted to keep myself accountable, and I’m starting to get responses! Planning for September because schedule doesn’t allow with the kids this summer, but now I’m trying to find a space. I will also join a local community meetup for business owners. This group is new and very active in wanting to help grow the community. I know I’ll meet amazing people which will lead to great opportunities. Exciting things are coming :) For those of you who are planning to lead the breathing or strength classes, how did you get or rent a space? Do you have your own? Thank you 🙏🏼

Hi All!! Wanted to take a minute to pop back on here. I have been involved in physiology first since 2020 first as an interested educator learning and now as a leader working in my community for the past 6 years. I have brought this mission into my community and surrounding communities working with the youngest learners (elementary school ages) both in schools and privately. I run a summer camp rooted in the physiology first principles. Currently I am working on converting a room in the school I work at to bring this mission of physiology first to life. It’s been a wild ride and so informative both personally and professionally. Would love to connect with you all to continue to further this mission.
Lesson 12: What Actually Happens to Our Body When We Exercise?
Team, this is one of the most exciting mini-lessons we’ve ever created. It’s short, science-packed, and you may want to watch it two or three times. Emily did a phenomenal job explaining the incredible cascade of events that begins the moment we start exercising - a process that doesn’t end until days later. A few surprising highlights: - Your body contains an estimated 10 quadrillion mitochondria - the tiny powerhouses that produce the energy for life. - Exercise signals your body to build more mitochondria, increasing your capacity to create energy. - Dopamine, serotonin, endocannabinoids, myokines, growth factors, and dozens of other signaling molecules begin coordinating one of the most remarkable biological processes in the human body. This video is just a brief overview, and yes - the slides are intentionally packed with information. They may look a little small on your screen, but we wanted to include them because they’ll become part of the full curriculum as well. Take a few minutes to have your mind blown, then give Emily a huge round of applause for taking on topics like myokines and cellular signaling. They can sound dry at first, but they’re actually the science of life, adaptation, and human potential🧬 Enjoy!
