This often breaks down because the dog anxiously WANTS TO get out. Teach, an open door is no different than a picture on a wall. Means nothing until released. During training I’ll have several doors open (safely during training phase) where the dog can make a choice. Restrictions (leash) = management. Choices (freedom) = trained.
