Salesforce Flow: Auto Case Update + Email on Status = 'Waiting for Customer'
Just built a simple but powerful Record-Triggered Flow for the Case object in Salesforce.
Trigger: When Status = Waiting for Customer🔧 Actions:
  • Update Record Type to Customer Confirmation
  • ✅Assign Case to “Waiting for Customer” Queue
  • Send Email to Contact using a predefined template
🔍 Debug Log Highlights:
  • Flow fired on Case update as expected
  • OwnerId updated to Queue (Queue ID confirmed)
  • Email sent successfully (emailSubject + emailBody verified)
  • Debug used rollback mode, so no real data was changed
Issues I'm facing:
  • Difference between Email Template + Email Alert vs Send Email action
  • When to use each one effectively
  • How to use merge fields correctly in templates
  • Formatting limitations in the Send Email action
  • Choosing the best option for consistent communication
