We take a journey from the natural religion of homo sapiens, "animism" or "shamanism", through the axial age religions - the Abrahamic Jewish, Christian, and Islamic worldviews, the Indian Hindu, Jain, and Buddhist worldviews, the Chinese Daoist, Confucian, and Buddhist Worldviews. The course culminates with science and non-theistic modern philosophies.

This course examines classic philosophical categories such as epistemology, ethics, personhood, ontology, et. al. Each unit presentation begins with some diverse views from philosophy around the planet and across eras and ends with applications for thinking about how they apply to AI.

How did one clever ape become a planet-shaping species? The PowerPoints in this course contain MUCH more data than in Harari's book on which the course is based, especially data on Denisovans. What did civilization give us? What did it cost us?
