Organic and regenerative
Organic and regenerative farming overlap, but the labels tell us different things. Certified organic follows defined, verified production standards. Regenerative farming generally emphasizes improving soil and ecosystem health, although the requirements depend on the certification or the farmer’s own approach. I also wonder how we can recognize the care a farmer puts into both the food they grow and the people they serve.
Neither label alone tells us how food tastes or how nutrient-dense it is. Personally, I put nutrient density and taste ahead of appearance and shelf life.
When choosing food, what matters most to you?
After the poll, think about what you would want the farmer to explain or demonstrate.
Nutrient density
Taste and freshness
Soil health and biodiversity
Pesticide and fertilizer practices
Price and affordability
Appearance and shelf life
