Name: Marlo Johnson Where you train: 10th planet LV Belt: BLUE BELT How long you’ve trained: 3 years Favorite submission: it was heel hooks but now anything around the neck. One thing you want to improve: I really want to improve my confidence in the hand fight and setting up takedowns. Next competition, if you have one: I’ll be competing in my first blue belt tournament in chicago at NAGA
Old Man Groves Here
Scott Groves - been training almost 6 years. Brown Belt @ 10th Planet with Nick & Spencer. Goal #1 - Get down to 199.9 lbs and stay there. At 47 years old I just feel better, a little faster, and cardio is better if I'm under 200. I'm at 215 right now. Got back to tracking my food and steps a few days ago. Need to do that daily and weight falls off! Goal #2 - Compete in the masters division of either ADCC or IBJJF next year. Younger guys with unlimited cardio are going to get the best of me at a competitive level - but against other older guys I can hold my own :-) Need to compete at Brown Belt (which I haven't yet). Goal #3 - Support Nick & Spence in building this community and offer some words of wisdom to the group as the old man (who has a bit more experience than you kids who heal much faster) :-)
First blue belt comp as a white belt
Decided to challenge myself and get some competition rounds in with a big superfight coming up next month. Here’s my first match. I’d really appreciate some honest feedback on my performance, especially any mistakes I made, holes in my game that I should prioritize fixing, and areas where I could’ve made better decisions. I’d also love to hear what you think I did well, what strengths stood out, and what aspects of my game I should lean into or develop further. Feel free to be as critical as you want. I’m here to learn and improve, so any feedback is genuinely appreciated. Thanks, bruddas. https://youtu.be/JSIeqyyKNLY?is=K2fnvztz9X1AyomN
