The 7 Hermetic Principles
1. The Principle of Mentalism: "The All is Mind; The Universe is Mental". This suggests that the universe is a mental creation of a higher power and that reality is constructed through thoughts. 2. The Principle of Correspondence: "As above, so below; as below, so above". This principle suggests a resonance between the physical, mental, and spiritual planes. The microcosm mirrors the macrocosm, such as cells reflecting a body or planetary systems. 3. The Principle of Vibration: "Nothing rests; everything moves; everything vibrates". Everything in the universe—from matter to thoughts—is in a state of vibration, with higher frequencies associated with positive emotions and lower frequencies with denser, slower states. 4. The Principle of Polarity: "Everything is Dual; everything has poles; everything has its pair of opposites". Opposites are, in fact, identical in nature but differ in degree (e.g., hot and cold are just different temperatures). 5. The Principle of Rhythm: "Everything flows, out and in; everything has its tides". This principle explains that everything moves like a pendulum—what goes up must come down, highlighting the cyclic nature of life, emotions, and events. 6. The Principle of Cause and Effect: "Every Cause has its Effect; every Effect has its Cause". There is no such thing as chance or luck; everything happens according to Law, meaning we can master our own reactions to create a new reality. 7. The Principle of Gender: "Gender is in everything; everything has its Masculine and Feminine Principles". This applies to all planes—physical, mental, and spiritual—requiring a balance of both energies for creation, growth, and personal development. Women of the Golden Dawn - by Mary K Greer
March is Women's History Month and I'm currently reading a great book (been on my shelf a long time but only just picking it up...) called 'Women of the Golden Dawn' by Mary K Greer. If you're not familiar with Mary, she is a legend in the Tarot community and has written multiple books and is a GD initiate. This is a great youtube interview and thought I'd share. Women born during this period 1860 - 1866 is approximately 160 years ago. The book is a focus on these Priestesses and Rebels. Women's voices are always left behind male dominant interests. The four women in this book tell the story of myth, magic and women's lib in the 19th century. It's fabulous. Check it out. https://hermeticgoldendawn.org/women-of-the-golden-dawn/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NDEOp4N9wI0 Happy Women's Herstory Month March 1 - March 31st.

Class Preparation : Book T - An extract from The Golden Dawn
In preparation for tomorrows 10am zoom presentation, I have attached Book T a PDF to refer to. It is an extensive document - but one that will introduce you to the concepts of Thoth Tarot and the court system of it, along with divinatory meanings for all cards. It also includes a 9 card spread and extensive appendix. It is not beginners Tarot but we must remain open to the holistic practice, at all levels. If you have Thoth tarot, refer to those cards. If you have ceremonial cards, you can use those too. If you only have RWS cards, still check it out as there is a lot of overlap. Dialogue With the Divine - Book T. The final chapter of the book deals with the art of divination – of drawing insight on the past, the present, and the future from correct use of Tarot cards. (page 89). “Divination,” of course, is derived from the word “divine.” It differs from simple “fortune telling” because it is foremost an entering into relationship with the Divine. Once the language of Tarot is incorporated into your cells, the cards become primarily a focus of intuition. Properly understood, they present a series of symbols that lead the mind into a deeper relationship with the principles pertaining to the problem under consideration. This focus on principles provides the querent – yourself or another – a basis for choice, rather than a dogmatic pronouncement about the future. The first method of divination given in Chapter 4 is believed to have originated with the Golden Dawn. It has been rewritten, based on feedback from students, in an effort to make it more comprehensible and usable. A second, much simpler, yet relatively unknown nine-card method is given, which many students have found valuable is assessing the psychological and spiritual conditions within which they are living. Love is the law, love under will. James A. Eshelman FRA. Promaqeu Prolocutor-GeneralTemple of Thelema © Have you wanted to know more about Tarot beyond fortune telling? Connect with the Divine at the highest possible level.

Golden Dawn Magic
An article that is a wonderful synopsis of this practice. See attached.
The Effect of The Golden Dawn on Fantasy Literature
I found a wonderful article today on this subject - welcome @Suzanne Van Kerkhoven Beyond these fields and this borderland there lies the legendary wonder-world of theurgy, so called, of Magic and Sorcery, a world of fascination or terror, as the mind which regards it is tempered, but in any case the antithesis of admitted possibility. There all paradoxes seem to obtain actually, contradictions coexist logically, the effect is greater than the cause and the shadow more than the substance. Therein the visible melts into the unseen, the invisible is manifested openly, motion from place to place is accomplished without traversing the intervening distance, matter passes through matter. There two straight lines may enclose a space; space has a fourth dimension, and untrodden fields beyond it; without metaphor and without evasion, the circle is mathematically squared. There life is prolonged, youth renewed, physical immortality secured. There earth becomes gold, and gold earth. There words and wishes possess creative power, thoughts are things, desire realises its object. There, also, the dead live and the hierarchies of extramundane intelligence are within easy communication, and become ministers or tormentors, guides or destroyers of man. There the Law of Continuity is suspended by the interference of the higher Law of Fantasia. (Waite, 1961, pp. 3-4)
