What Is Global Developmental Delay (GDD)? Signs, Daily Life & What It Really Means
What Is Global Developmental Delay (GDD)?
Global Developmental Delay (GDD) is a term used when a child is developing more slowly than expected across multiple areas of development.
Those areas can include:
  • Speech and language
  • Movement and motor skills
  • Learning and cognitive ability
  • Social interaction
  • Emotional maturity
GDD isn’t one single thing. It’s not one trait. And it’s not a label that defines who a child is.
It simply describes a difference in developmental timing across more than one area.
That’s it.
