I think I may have worded my original post badly, because I’m actually not looking for help defining my ideal client. I feel pretty confident about who I’m trying to attract. 😊
What I’m really looking for is fun, creative ways to actually get in front of those people and turn them into bookings.
For a bit of context, I only opened Bare Beauty in mid-June with zero existing clientele, and I’ve grown the Instagram to around 670 followers organically since then. So I’m not really struggling with growing the audience itself. I’m wanting to get better at attracting the right people from that audience and making them want to actually book.
I’m currently reworking the Bare Beauty brand around a “low-maintenance beauty with an edge” vibe. Think a little tattoo studio, a little beauty bar. Cool, relaxed, slightly alternative, but definitely not limited to alternative clients.
My ideal client could be heavily tattooed and love something weird and wonderful, or she could be a busy mum who wears neutrals and just wants really fucking good nails. The common thread is personality, individuality, quality and wanting a beauty experience that feels like them.
So now I’m looking for the marketing/content ideas that will make that person stop scrolling and think:
“Wait… I like this place.”
I’m thinking things like:
• Fun/quirky Reels or social posts that fit the brand.
• Content that shows the personality of the salon rather than just finished nails.
• Creative campaigns or recurring social series.
• Ways to make people want to follow Bare Beauty before they’re ready to book.
• Collaborations or local ideas that would put the brand in front of the right people. I haven’t posted on local community pages or anything like that yet and assume that’d bring in people too as I know others have grown by posting to pages on fb.
• Fun ways to encourage bookings without constantly screaming “APPOINTMENTS AVAILABLE”.
Basically anything organic that makes the right person feel like “these are my people.”
I’m not looking for generic “post consistently/use Reels/use hashtags” advice. I want the weird, clever, fun stuff that makes a small salon memorable and different.
So, if you’ve done something that genuinely brought your ideal clients through the door, what did you do? 💗

Hi everyone, I’m looking for fun ways to build my clientele and attract the right people that fit my ideal clientele.
I’m having a liiiiittle bit of a rebrand with my salon and I’d love to pick the brains of other nail techs about attracting the RIGHT clients rather than just trying to attract more clients.
I’m really trying to nail down my ideal client (pun absolutely intended).
My salon is going for a “low-maintenance beauty with an edge” vibe. Think a little bit tattoo studio, a little bit beauty bar. Cool, relaxed, slightly alternative, but not exclusively “alternative” clients.
My ideal client is someone who:
• Wants beautiful, quality nails without the high-maintenance beauty bullsh!t.
• Has their own personality and isn’t afraid to show it.
• Might have tattoos, piercings, love black, vintage, oddities etc… OR might just be a busy mum who wants to feel put together.
• Appreciates nail art and creativity but also loves a really good clean BIAB set.
• Wants somewhere they can actually relax, have a laugh and feel comfortable. *JUDGEMENT FREE ZONE*
• Values quality and someone who genuinely cares about their nails rather than just getting them done as quickly and cheaply as possible.
Basically, I’m not trying to create a salon that appeals to absolutely everyone. I want the people who walk in and think “Ohhh, this is MY kind of place.”
So I’m curious what fun or slightly outside-the-box things have you done to attract your ideal clients and turn them into actual bookings?
Not just “post more on Instagram” you know? I’m looking for creative ideas, little experiences, collaborations, marketing ideas, community stuff, weird ideas that somehow worked… anything!
What have you done that made your ideal client go
“Yep. I need to book there.”
Bonus points for ideas that don’t require throwing hundreds of dollars at Meta ads.
Thank you all ily x
