If you are building a business on the side…
working as an independent contractor…
or working a 9 to 5 while trying to grow something of your own…
listen up for a second.
I have done all three.
And here is the truth.
Every single one of those roles taught me something that helped me become the entrepreneur I am today.
I was a kindergarten teacher.
A first grade teacher.
A reading specialist.
A fifth grade teacher.
A sixth grade math and computer science teacher.
An instructional coach for eight years.
All of that taught me something important.
How to teach.
And if you are a Skool owner or building any kind of online business… you are an educator too.
You are teaching something.
The real skill that matters is learning from whatever you are doing right now to bring more income in.
That learning compounds.
Here is a real example from my life this week.
Tomorrow I am hosting a co-working session that is collaborative between this community and the Female Finance Collective that I am part of and used to own.
During the first ten minutes I will share the spreadsheets I use for both personal and business finances with you. I will teach you how to get started.
Then we will work.
Because it is my work time too.
What I will be doing is going back through ans tracking February Amazon FBA numbers.
This year I decided to separate my business platforms so I can clearly see what each one earns and spends what.
So I now am tracking income separately for
Amazon FBA
Amazon KDP
Audible
Skool
Each platform pays at different times, different amounts, and different schedules. They also have vastly different expenses.
I already started my Amazon FBA spreadsheet last month with you in this group!
Why do I do this at the beginning of every month and want you to join?
Because my future self in April will be very grateful when March numbers roll around and everything is already organized. You yours will too.
Tracking and managing our expenses and income reduces stress, allows us to reflect and learn from our real numbers, and gives you peace of mind.
It matters for taxes.
It matters for understanding your business.
And it matters for for making future decisions and meeting your financial dreams.
If you are an entrepreneur…
or someone building income on the side…
you need to start acting like the CEO and CFO of your business.
No special skills required.
Just start.
Bring:
one business bank account
one business credit card
or one income platform that pays you
Or just your self!
We will copy and open a spreadsheet and start.
You might only organize one thing. That is perfect.
Start small. Start messy. Start today.
Your future self will thank you.
