I Almost Missed It
I just walked into the kitchen to grab my granola.
Normal moment. Nothing special.
But then I paused.
And I looked out the window.
Snow covered mountains in the distance… just sitting there.
And I almost missed it.
That’s the thing about savoring.
It’s not about slowing your whole life down. It’s about catching the moment before your brain rushes past it.
Because it will.
Your brain is wired to move on quickly, even from good things.
So if you don’t interrupt it…you live in a life that looks beautiful on paper but doesn’t actually feel like it while you’re in it.
The science is simple:
When you notice and hold a positive moment just a little longer, your brain actually registers it.
Noticing. Naming it. Letting it register.
That’s savoring.
Not a big ritual. Just a small pause.
Scientifically proven to calm you.
This morning it was:
Granola in hand.
Mountains in the distance.
A quiet… “this is really gorgeous.”
10 seconds.
That’s it.
And it felt soooo good!
👇 Try this today:
Catch one moment you would normally rush past…and stay with it for 10 seconds longer.
What did you notice?
