Amazon’s new inventory rule changes everything for physical product sellers
Excess inventory fees starting at 6 months instead of 12?
That is a massive shift for Amazon Sellers with Inventory!
The days of blindly ordering huge amounts of inventory and hoping it works out later are fading fast.
Honestly, I think this will separate casual sellers from real operators.
Because now?
You actually have to understand your business and how much stock you can move within what time frame.
Your images matter.
Your conversion rate matters.
Your PPC matters.
Your pricing matters.
Your sell-through rate matters.
Your cash flow matters.
Momentum matters.
I’ve learned this the hard way over the last year and a half, selling journals and planners through Amazon FBA.
Inventory can feel exciting when you order it.
But six months later, if it is not moving fast enough, it becomes stress sitting on a shelf.
And yet... strangely enough... I feel more hopeful than discouraged.
Why?
Because this forces us to become sharper.
More intentional.
More data-driven.
More creative.
The sellers willing to:
• learn advertising
• improve listings
• test images
• study keywords
• manage inventory carefully
• pivot quickly
...are going to have a huge advantage moving forward.
Amazon is no longer rewarding “set it and forget it.”
It is rewarding sellers who pay attention.
And honestly?
That might be a really good thing.
Keep going, you've got this!
