Frustrated and then guilty
Does anyone else get into a spiral where they get frustrated with their animal and then afterwards consumed by guilt for it? I rode Mr Kipps on Weds for the first time in a while and he froze and refused to move before we'd left the yard. He has done this before and I'm usually patient and gentle. But because of my grief this week my threshold was lower and I got frustrated with him. Usually I would use positive reinforcement but I did a single rein turn until he moved forward, and then I felt TERRIBLE for it ๐Ÿซ  We ended up having a nice ride and I did feel better by the end. I realised I was putting my expectations onto the ride. I had had a difficult week and I wanted a nice ride - I pushed his feelings/apprehension aside for my own needs. Not only that, he was probably feeling insecure because he could sense my emotions. How many of us have done this with our dogs walks? I just want to have a nice relaxing stroll but my dog has other ideas ๐Ÿ’ก It's important to remember we are human and we are also part of this relationship. The human animal bond involves two nervous systems having a dialogue together. I will be going to ride tomorrow and repenting for my lack of patience earlier in the week. I'll let you know how it goes!

Challenges
Let's be honest, it is not all plain sailing looking after animals. So if you are struggling with something at the moment with your animal, lets chat about it here. Perhaps someone in this group can give you some advice. Remember: this is a safe, judgement free zone.
