Welcome to Military Standard Prep
This community is for people who are already on the path to joining the British Army and want to use that time properly. The idea is simple: Waiting time is preparation time. Whether you’ve got Assessment Centre coming up, you’ve passed and you’re waiting for Phase 1, or you’re further along the process, the goal here is to help you arrive fitter, more prepared and more confident about what comes next. Inside the community we’ll focus on the things that actually matter: - Assessment Centre preparation - Fitness and training - Building better routines and discipline - Using the waiting period properly - Preparing for Phase 1 and beyond - Asking questions and learning from other people at a similar stage This isn’t an official British Army or MOD community, and it’s not here to replace official information. Always follow the latest instructions you’ve been given by the Army. MSP is here to help with the preparation around that. The best way to use the community is simple: Train → Report → Ask → Help → Progress Get involved, post your questions, share your progress, join the challenges and help other people where you can. Why I Built MSP Around 150,000 people applied to join the British Army last year. Roughly 7,000 got in. Getting in is competitive, and the people who make it through are the people you’ll be training and serving alongside. Most people wait until Phase 1, Phase 2 or even unit before they start seriously thinking about fitness, routines, recovery and performance. You can start now and potentially put yourself 12–24 months ahead. I joined the Army at 16, went through the Army Foundation College and served seven years in the Royal Artillery. After leaving, I travelled to more than 40 countries, lived in Asia, then returned and joined the Army Reserve, where I’ve now spent another seven years in The Rifles. I’ve worked with candidates, recruits and trained soldiers, worked in recruiting, qualified as a Physical Training Instructor and climbing instructor, spent a decade on an Army climbing team and seven years on a ski team. I’m now training with a triathlon team towards an Ironman.

Must Read — Personal Security
This is a public group. Anyone can join, so protect yourself and other members. If you're joining the military, you may be of interest to people seeking information. Don't make it easy for them. - Don't post where you live or personal details. - Don't publish future travel dates, times, routes or accommodation. - Don't share unit locations, movements, training details or information about others. - Be cautious with private messages and people asking unusually detailed questions. - Get to know people publicly before moving to DMs. - Be suspicious if someone quickly tries to move you onto WhatsApp, Telegram, Snapchat etc. - Never send documents, IDs or sensitive information. If anything feels suspicious, stop engaging and report it to me immediately. Think before you post. Protect yourself. Protect others.

September Fitness Challenge
This is a simple monthly challenge to give everyone in the community something practical to work towards. The aim is to test your current fitness, set a benchmark and give yourself a score to beat next time. There are 3 parts: - 5K best effort - 3-rep max bench press - Descending ladder of press-ups, sit-ups and squats To get involved, complete all three, record your results and post them in the community. You don’t need to be the fittest person here. Just give it a proper effort, be honest with your results and use them as a starting point for your own progress.
