Welcome New Members
Your new HQ for connection, collaboration, and Motor City energy. It’s an honor to officially welcome you to the SKOOL IRL: Detroit community. This space is designed to be our collective launchpad, where relationships are formed, ideas get traction, and the unique spirit of Metro Detroit fuels everything we build together. I’m deeply invested in this region. Detroit isn’t just a dot on the map—it’s a case study in resilience, innovation, and reinvention. We’re sitting at the crossroads of legacy and future disruption: - A city that built the world through automotive manufacturing and now leads the charge in mobility, automation, and advanced tech. - A culture that never quits, grounded in blue-collar grit, entrepreneurial courage, and the kind of community loyalty you can’t fake. - A creative ecosystem that spans Motown, street art, architecture, design, and a sports culture that runs straight through the city’s bloodstream. - Metro Detroit—from the burbs to the riverfront... where the diversity of people, talent, and industry creates one of the most dynamic business and creator environments anywhere in the country. This community is here to bring that energy into one place. Here’s what this space is designed for: - Meaningful in-person connection with people who actually want to collaborate, not just collect contacts. - Local knowledge-sharing—business, tech, leadership, art, culture, and everything in between. - Events, workshops, and meetups that drive actual value, not just social noise. - A rising-tide ecosystem where creators, founders, builders, and professionals support each other’s missions. As we kick this off, drop an introduction below. Share who you are, what you’re building, and what part of Metro Detroit you call home. Let’s start mapping the network that will shape what SKOOL IRL: Detroit becomes. This city has a legacy of building things that matter. Now it’s our turn. Welcome to the community—let’s make something powerful together.

Help Me Learn About Michigan
Hey guys!! I have a question to ask you all.....please play along. I live in Tennessee and I really do not know a whole lot about Michigan. I want to learn more, so I thought I would come to y'all. I will tell you the few things I know about Michigan. Detroit Red Wings hockey team, University of Michigan and Michigan State football teams, snow, snow and more snow (y'all please feel free to send that my way), and last but not least, lakes. So my questions are for everyone: What is your favorite "thing" about Michigan, what is your least favorite "thing" about Michigan and if you were encouraging me to come to Michigan, how would you sell that to me? Anddddd GOOOOO!! I look forward to reading your answers. 😊

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY
Hey Michigan, I'm your Mayor. Here's what that means for you.
Hey Michigan, I'm your Mayor. Here's what that means for you. My name is Rob Stein. I live in Warren currently, and I just took on the Mayor role for this community, which means I'm the person responsible for keeping this city warm, connected, and worth showing up for. In April 2025 I retired from corporate to chase some dreams. I'm almost a year in and I have accomplished several of them. My current dream is to have a thriving community here in Michigan on Skool and in person. What you can expect from me: - A real IRL meetup every month — even if it starts with 4 people at a coffee shop - Personal DMs to new members so no one lands here and gets crickets - A community that's about connection first, not self-promotion Our first meetup: Date: April 18, 2026 Time: 10:00 am Location: Detroit Institute of Arts (5200 Woodward Ave, Detroit, MI 48202) No agenda. No pitch fest. Just good people going on an adventure. We will meet out front, head in together (everyone is responsible for their own entree fees). Then we will explore some of the amazing art together. After, whoever is up for it we may grab a beverage and some food. (Everyone responsible for covering their own costs) One ask from me right now: Drop a comment below, name, what you're building, and one thing you're excited about right now. I'll read every single one and reply. If you're new here: welcome. You found the right room. Rob Stein — Mayor, Michigan Skool IRL
