Strategic planning involves a list of identified goals that a company says that it is going to implement in a specific time frame. The very first STRATEGIC PLAN that a business has.... is ideally done by the board of directors of the company right before they launch a new business. Max Scott likes to start the week with a Monday Motivation. He emphasizes that your goals need to be actioned on weekly and we as students need to do our best to show up daily. Strategic Planning goals need to be SMART & and should also undergo a SWOT analysis. SMART Goals is when a group of executives outline business goals that are : 1) Specific. The goals are very tangible and well outlined as opposed to being a vague and an ambiguous list of things that a business wants to achieve. 2) Measurable. The goals also need to be those that can be accounted for...so, when we say, Staff will be hired this month then it actually happens. Subsequently, all that is measured gets done, no excuses. 3) Achievable. Whether big or small the goals need to be those that can be achieved. Things that can be easily done whether big or small. For example, I will talk to a company executive to start the hiring process of recruiting new people. 4) Realistic. Goals that are no out there, "pie in the sky" so to speak, but goals that can be realistically done by appointing a set of executives to execute effectively. For exampl,e I will send an email to the Head of HR to hire new employees. 5) Time Bound. Goals that a time bound, are goals can be reached because you have introduced the accountability aspect of working with a timeline. For example, we shall hire a team of marketing executives and this will happen within one week. A SWOT analysis on the other end of the spectrum, is when you look at your SMART goals and you asess the following : } Strengths } Weakness } Opportunities } Threats Ideally if the business is new, then a Strategic Planning meeting should happen quartely to enure that all goals are implemented and nothing is holding you hostage from making progress.
