Thinking of all the various contraindications applicable to EO's, which is the first one that pops into your mind in order of importance and why? There's no right or wrong answer, mine is epilepsy/seizures, what's yours and why? Epilepsy for me is because just a whiff of the wrong oil can trigger an attack/episode. Sometimes seizures aren't full body reactions that we normally associate with the word epilepsy. Did you know that some of the following reactions/symptoms are also signs of a seizure? They are known as aura seizures.These can be stand alone symptoms or precursors to a full blown seizure. 1. Changes in their vision, like seeing sparkling lights, dark circles or colorful splotches 2. Hearing things that no one else does, like a ringing, buzzing or whistling 3. Noticing an odd smell, such as burning rubber 4. Feeling numbness, tingling, heat or pain in a specific body part 5. Having an unusual — and typically unpleasant — taste in your mouth, like something bitter, metallic or sour. 6. Sudden and short-lived changes in demeanor, like becoming momentarily confused, subdued, irritated, anxious, excited or fearful 7. Walking away or disengaging in the middle of a conversation 8. Saying something completely unrelated to the conversation at hand 9. Disruptive behaviors, like uncontrollably yelling out in a classroom or in a meeting 10. A sudden cramping or tensing of a muscle group, stiffening of your head and neck muscles, involuntarily posturing your fingers or hand, or exaggerated blinking 11. Moving your jaw as if you’re chewing or swallowing when you’re not eating or drinking 12. Pacing or moving about with a sudden burst of energy 13. Fidgeting with your hands, such as adjusting your clothes. Then there's non-epileptic seizures, FND, Functional Neurological Disorder. I have 3 clients with FND. Using the correct EO's for them specifically, combined with treating their Cranial nerves with Reflexology works a treat to reduce FND attacks.
