Am I pushing 💩 up hill with this (problem frequency)

I got this guitar track that I'm having problems with. There is an annoying harmonic frequency coming off the stings that sounds like a' bleep' around 1-1100k. I've tried EQ to surgically remove it, tried dynamic EQ and Mulitband EQ, but can't get a result without too much destruction to everything else. Is there a strategy for getting rid of it or should I just ask the guy to re-record it.
