Real life on the croft
I share video clips of life on the croft through social media. Instagram at living_lightly_worldwide and Facebook page Adrian’s Croft. This is the sort of thing I share, if you want to follow. I prefer not to post them all here as this is the area for discussion but I don't want anyone to miss out on content which might help them.

Vehicles?
Hi, where i live i need a vehicle, it is over a mile and a half from my house just to my post box, parcel drop point! Now in winter this can be impossible to drive, or when the vehicles breaks down due to the rough track. Well I have had to walk that pulling a bicycle trailer loaded up with heavy necessities (20kg animal feed 😥) not easy. So I am wondering, what alternatives could there be? It is not a long walk, but when pulling those weights it takes a long time. I have dogs, have considered if they could help out and work for their dinner 🤣 though would have no clue how to find or build a suitable cart, let alone train them to pull it. I have often said in jest I bet it would be cheaper to care for a horse and cart for a year than it is to replace/ fix the car as often as I need to. However, I do not believe I have the land suitable for a horse, nor the knowledge base to care for one! So all that being said, I hope someone will find the conundrum interesting enough to discuss and throw some ideas around?
Noticing energy
Look at the photo below What do you notice? What does the snow on the roof tell us?.other than that we've had the right meteorological conditions for snow 😃 By looking at this photo, I can see that I'm not losing energy in the form of heat through the roof of my house, so my loft insulation is effective. Furthermore we are now benefitting from.the snow acting as extra insulation. This is not something we can feel from inside the house, but we notice the insulating effects of the snow in our polytunnel barn; the goats are well cosy.
