Welcome Producer
Welcome producer. You joining this community is funding joy for kids and there's not much better that you can do in the world. In here you will see production vlogs and behind-the-scenes information about the shows we're creating. We'll list in here the budgets of all the shows and let you see how we're spending the money. All members of this group will be listed in the programs of the shows as producers so that you get a little nod to your contribution for each production funded by this community. As soon as the works become profitable, it would be my desire to shift the model to an actual producing model where producers can get a return back from the profits of the show. Thanks for being here. Now let's go make some fun.

How much does it cost to create a show?
There is so much that goes into creating a theatre show, even just for its initial season, let alone touring. - You need a venue. - You need a script. - You need actors. - You need a director. - You need a producer (when we say producer we mean production manager, someone who is actually on the ground producing, guiding the process). - You need a stage manager who is going to be there to support the actors when the show is running. - Marketing - Front of house staff. - You need ticketing. All of these people and services have fees attached to them. If we were to put a reasonable fee, not top tier, but just a reasonable fee, against everyone and everything, an independent show like the shows that I create at full cost, if we were paying the full cost for everything, would be around $80,000 Most of that be paid to the artists and creative teams. Theatre is a very labor-intensive process. More often than not at the independent level I currently operate at, we're often working for free for a lot of the time that we contribute and we're never paid for the true value of our time. For instance the last show that we produced all up, we got out of that for just under $20,000 because most people got paid about 5-10% of what they should have been paid for the time that they did on the show. My goal, my vision is to create work that audiences love and allows us to pay creatives at a fee that is reasonable for the effort that they contribute. To generate employment for artists in a world where artists are often undervalued. To give people the chance to actually have a career doing the thing that they love. This community is a step towards that and I cannot thank you enough for being a part of it.
