One of the most important things a coach can learn is that part of coaching is teaching clients how coaching itself works.
Many people enter coaching never having experienced true presence, reflective inquiry, or intentional silence. They are used to conversations filled with interruption, advice, fixing and performance. So when silence appears in coaching, it can initially feel unfamiliar or uncomfortable.
That is why high-level coaches sometimes gently explain the process while remaining inside the coaching relationship. 😊
