Introduction Post!
Good morning, afternoon, and evening from wherever and whenever you are reading this!
I hope your day or night is blessed and productive, your health is strong and vibrant, and your business is prosperous and thriving always.
I wanted to make this post to formally introduce myself.
I am eager to learn from and grow alongside you all.
A bit about me:
My name is BK Amon. I'm a nurse case manager by day and an entrepreneur-in-training by night.
I've been a nurse for 8 years but have always desired to be an entrepreneur.
As a case manager, I have had to develop certain skills to be effective at my job, including effective communication, advocacy, approachability, collaboration, delegation, conflict resolution, time management, problem-solving, deep empathy, and holistic cultural competency.
These skills have served me well. They have helped me curate trust in the populations that I serve and have allowed me to thrive in the field of nursing, which is currently rated the number 1 trusted profession in the United States of America.
These skills seem compatible with the necessary skills to be an effective coach.
Because while nurses are an integral part of the healthcare system that allows us to live a higher quality of life than those who came before us, the need for skilled, effective coaching is undeniable.
There has been an increase in mental health needs (especially after the most recent global pandemic). Obesity is getting worse. Divorce is getting worse. The rate of suicide is getting worse. Unemployment is getting worse. The threat of AI and automation has many people experiencing an existential crisis.
As of this writing (10/18/24), some of the dockworkers and shipyard unions of America were striking just two weeks ago. Many reading this may not realize that the shipyards and the goods of global commercial shipping lines are the lifeblood of the American economy, and the railroad and trucking networks are its backbone and nervous system.
If this supply chain were to ever be interrupted or significantly disrupted, it would cost the country billions of dollars per day. With just the rumor of the dockworkers going on strike, many were already starting to stock up on toilet paper and water.
I mention all this to say that there are a vast many people who lack the mental, emotional, behavioral, inter, and intrapersonal skills that are crucial to overcoming the stress that comes with these rapidly changing times. That's the bad news.
The good news is that people are buying online more than ever. People are desperately looking for something that works. They are searching for a true and lasting solution. There has never been a better time to learn the skills of coaching and to build a network of like-minded, like-spirited individuals to master the skills alongside.
My biggest problem with learning how to transition from a case manager to a coach is the fact that I've never had a framework that would help me strategically put together client coaching sessions in a way that would allow each session to compound on the last session. I've never been taught a system to actively take a client forward, closer to their outcome and personal transformation.
I am resolutely committed to learning *how to effectively diagnose my client's problem, *how to break the old core belief that structures their problem, *how to retrain the new belief so that the problem doesn't recreate somewhere else and cause my client's behavior to regress, and *how to compound the daily positive behaviors that allow new behaviors and beliefs to grow. (***Steps were suggested by Ed during the first lesson of the Expert Coaching course in the classroom tab***).
With 1001+ opportunities out there now, with coaches that have little to no experience selling people courses on how to be a coach, and with many people willing to shamelessly scam individuals out of their money by promising something real and underdelivering just to make a quick buck, reputation, authenticity, and character are worth their weight in gold (or attention, engagement, and sales, in this case).
That is why I plan on exclusively doing 1 to 1 coaching and 1 to-many coaching masterminds in my Skool Community until I have more than enough testimonials and proof of expertise. Then I will make a course alongside my community and eventually start another Skool Community for clients that I can successfully coach into their transformation and have meetups for even deeper, immersive training.
If you made it this far, you have my sincere gratitude.
