Help Needed to overcome Resistance to complete 'To Do list'
I have been struggling to complete my ‘to do list’ and I see it getting bigger and bigger day by day. Though I know the list is getting bigger, most of the times I still avoid till it goes to the tipping point and sometimes I miss the opportunity.
Some of the work that I have avoided are as follows
· Not filing for tax
· Not tracking bank account
· Not making payments on time and waiting for last moment
· And many more !!
I was trying to analyse the reason for this and I see following and find a way to address this.
Laziness
Lack of self-control
Built-up bad habit
Feeling like work isn’t urgent
Negative self-talk
Fear: Most common - not working because you’re afraid of what happens if you do.
Research: Not working because you want to ‘do some more research’ first.
Comfort: Not working because you feel comfortable right now and don’t want to feel uncomfortable.
Justifying: Not working because you’ve justified it.
Distraction: Not working because ‘that thing’ keeps distracting you.
Feeling Vulnerable: Not working because it makes you feel vulnerable or psychologically exposed.
Addiction: Not working because you’re addicted to something other than working.
Denial: Not working because you’re in denial - refusing to see and accept the truth.
Procrastination: Not working because you’re putting it off til’ tomorrow.
Burnout: Not working because you think you’re too burned out to work.
Uncertainty: Not working because you’re not sure how.
Pain Avoidance: Not working because work hurts, man.
I would appreciate some remedy or insight on how to overcome these depending on the situation.
