The Shadow Self
Every one of us has a **Shadow Self** — the parts of us we were taught were “too much,” “not enough,” “wrong,” “bad,” or “unacceptable.” The Shadow does not mean darkness in the sense of “evil.” It means **unseen**. It means **unacknowledged**. It means **the parts of you that were forced underground** to stay safe, accepted, or loved The Shadow Self is formed in childhood, when: * You had needs that weren’t met * You had emotions that weren’t welcomed * You expressed yourself in ways that were shamed or ignored * You were forced to adapt to survive your environment So you learned to suppress: * Your anger * Your sensitivity * Your creativity * Your emotional needs * Your truth * Your voice * Your intuition * Your boundaries * Your authenticity You **did not lose these parts.** You buried them. They are waiting for you.

What is Trauma?
Trauma is a Greek word that means Wound. Trauma is not what happened to you, but rather what happened inside of you when an experience overwhelms your ability to cope, process or feel safe.Trauma is the body & brain getting stuck in survival mode. When trauma has played a role in your life & after pre-longed or repetitive events your nervous system goes into fight, flight or freeze mode. That is when how trauma becomes stored inside the body & the mind. As years pass & we continue down a path of pain it continues to pile up within us. The body will suppress until it can't anymore. This is when people get sick with dis-ease & the body will show you subtle signs. If you don't listen & are disconnected from the body dis-ease grows. Most people will do one form of healing & not the other. It is important to innerstand that mind body & soul must all be in alignment therefore they all must be healed. Somatic yoga, Meditation & visualization included with inner child work is amazing but is useless if your not adding in the shadow work portion of it. Shadow work is based on the self reflection, the emotional regulation, the peeling back of layers of bulshit so you can rebuild from your core. It's about getting to know yourself in truth. With shadow work you learn to embrace all the parts of you, the parts the world told you to hide. It's learning to love all of you unconditionally with gratitude towards your shadow for getting you thru & to this moment right now. It as nothing to do with reliving the trauma, it's about learning to process , release & take your power back. It's all very spiritual in itself, however implementing affirmations, ceremony n prayer, sitting with nature & truly allowing it's essence to move through you. Using sound & vibration. dance. & what you resonate with to fill you to become one with you. It's all very connected & mastering all of this within you is the only way to truly heal. This is not for the weak hearted. it's hard work but it is sacred, & worth it. The prize out does the heavy work.
