The Shadow Self
Every one of us has a **Shadow Self** — the parts of us we were taught were “too much,” “not enough,” “wrong,” “bad,” or “unacceptable.”
The Shadow does not mean darkness in the sense of “evil.”
It means **unseen**.
It means **unacknowledged**.
It means **the parts of you that were forced underground** to stay safe, accepted, or loved
The Shadow Self is formed in childhood, when:
* You had needs that weren’t met
* You had emotions that weren’t welcomed
* You expressed yourself in ways that were shamed or ignored
* You were forced to adapt to survive your environment
So you learned to suppress:
* Your anger
* Your sensitivity
* Your creativity
* Your emotional needs
* Your truth
* Your voice
* Your intuition
* Your boundaries
* Your authenticity
You **did not lose these parts.**
You buried them.
They are waiting for you.
