The Pentagon made a rare public disclosure of the location of the USS Alaska, one of America’s nuclear-armed submarines, just a day after President Donald Trump rejected Iran’s latest proposal and warned the ceasefire was on “life support.”
The Ohio-class ballistic missile submarine surfaced in Gibraltar in what many see as a deliberate show of force toward Tehran, as tensions over the Strait of Hormuz and Iran’s demands continue to escalate.
The move also appeared to send a message to US allies, after reports that Spain refused to support parts of the American operation against Iran, forcing Washington to rely on British-controlled Gibraltar instead.
