I Never Ran Out of Mothers
If it’s one thing I know about my mama, it’s this: My Mama LOVES ME!
She loves me with
The kind of love that covers you.
The kind of love that prays for you before you even know you need prayer.
The kind of love that makes sure you are never out here in this world unsupported.
And my mama loved me so well that she made sure I would never run out of other-mothers.
I am honored to be the daughter of Teresa Warren Gardner, and also deeply grateful to be an other-daughter and loved by my great Aunt Christine Sutton, Aunt Ellen Warren, Cousin Judy Sanders, Cousin Brigiett Cunningham, and one of my mom's best friends, Mama Gretchen.
That’s the thing about love rooted in community: it multiplies.
So for anyone navigating Mother’s Day with grief, distance, longing, or complicated emotions, I want to remind you of this:
Sometimes healing shows up through other-mothers.
The auntie who checked on you.
The elder who believed in you.
The family friend who made space for you.
The mentor who loved you like their own.
Love still finds us.
And if no one has told you today: you are worthy of being deeply loved, covered, and cared for. Sending you all so much love today and everyday.
