I'M All in
Hi everyone, my name is Yimeng. I currently live in Singapore and my background is in strategy and communication. I spent time at McKinsey as a heavy "strategy person," but over time I realised I feel far more fulfilled when I can actually build and deliver impact, instead of just recommending and selling it.
That's why I've stopped calling myself a strategist. I want to become a strategic builder.
I came across Liam's video on AI agents and got completely hooked. I'm already building a few agentic systems, and I haven't felt this excited about work in a long time.
Here's the angle I want to bring: my past roles were all about stakeholder management and human dynamics. So when I build agents, especially conversational ones, I obsess over the empathetic layer, like how the agent makes a person feel, not just what it does. I think warmth is where a lot of AI automation falls short, and that's the edge I want to lean into.
My goal is: learn to build and sell AI automation, get real reps in, and land my first client. Longer term, my "why" is to build a career on my own terms, working for myself, with sustainable income, using my domain knowledge to solve real problems in a creative and human way.
I'm a big believer in learning by building. Still figuring plenty out, but excited to take action and learn alongside all of you.
One question I really want to hear your advice: for those who've already landed clients, what's the one skill you wish you'd focused on earlier, selling or building?
