After finishing one of the most stressful and most work-intensives periods of my life, I had more time to think and one of the thoughts that came up was 2026.
I started mapping out my goals and came to a few conclusions, but it did not feel very smooth and polished. (Btw, shoutout to Patrice Moore for the idea of setting goals with the threat of death in case of failure)
I knew I wasn’t 100% satisfied still but didn’t know what to change so I let it simmer for a few days.
A few days later, I joined a call with one of my mentors and asked him how I could improve my goal setting. Targets are not goals.
A target is something you want to have happen, but can’t directly control.
The classic example is making a certain amount of money.
Whenever you set a goal that is actually a target and you can’t reach it, it feels frustrating and undermines your self confidence.
Real goals are things you have control over. One example of a target is posting a YT video once per week. That is something you can control and you know will help you reach your target. After getting my mentor's advice, I started refining my goals vs targets. One of these new goals for this year is making 3 posts on Skool per week. PS. Let me know what your goals vs targets are.
