Pain says "rewrite". Suffering says "research more templates".
So I got absolutely wrecked this weekend.
Sunday night I went for a long walk in the freezing cold here in Iceland, came back ready to eat dinner but I just had zero appetite. Not normal for me at all.
Then it started getting worse... really fast.
Within minutes I'm feeling pain in my stomach and head, had to just lay down and try to chill but it kept getting worse by the minute. Then I vomited, and that's when the pain got really bad.
Tried to hydrate but couldn't hold anything down for hours. When I looked in the mirror, straight up looked like a ghost.
Started cramping up from being so dehydrated and the pain was brutal, couldn't fall asleep until 3am (I usually go to sleep at 9).
And when I finally did sleep? Maybe 1 hour at a time, just lying there in pain, back to sleep for 1-2 hours, wake up, repeat. Did that until 11am.
When I woke up at 11 I felt better. Still rough though, yesterday all I could eat was crackers and water.
But here's the crazy part: right now, not even 48 hours later, I'm like 90% back to normal. Weird how fast it comes and goes.
Here's why I'm sharing this: Writing copy feels the same sometimes.
The pain of knowing your about page isn't converting, the frustration of writing posts that don't get engagement, the fear that maybe you're just not a good writer, that's the signal telling you something needs to change.
But the suffering? The endless rewriting without launching, the paralysis, convincing yourself you need to study more templates before you ship, that's optional. That's what keeps you stuck.
My body recovered fast because it knew what to do, it just had to go through it.
Your copy is the same, you already have what it takes, you just need to test, get feedback, and iterate.
Are you falling into the trap of suffering?
