Clients asking for previous copy work? (newbie)

Hey

! I really enjoyed this video — you made starting copywriting feel so approachable. Quick question: how would you recommend handling it if you're just starting out and don’t have any client work or portfolio yet? What should you show potential clients if they ask to see past work before hiring you? Or should I actually have some copy to show?

Would love to know what other members have done as well in this situation!
