Fri 23 Jan ๐ŸŒ’ Habits Rebuilding
Crescent Moon | 23 Jan
"The second half of a man's life is made up of nothing but the habits he accumulated during the first half."
Dostoevsky wrote that.
I read it 10 years ago. Ignored it. Kept accumulating habits like they didn't count.
Now I'm 43. And I see it everywhere.
The way I interrupt people? Started at 25.
The way I scroll when anxious? Started at 30.
The way I avoid conflict? Started at 15.
I'm not living my life. I'm replaying my habits.
The Stoics called this: แผ€ฯ€ฯฮฟฮฑฮฏฯฮตฯ„ฮฟฯ‚ - aproairetos. Acting without choice.
You think you're deciding. But you're just running the same program you installed years ago.
Dostoevsky knew: Self-awareness isn't knowing who you are.
It's seeing which version of your past self is driving today.
Marcus Aurelius: "You have power over your mind, not outside events."
But first, you need to see that most of your "mind" is just old habits on autopilot.
What's one habit you accumulated in the first half of your life that's running the second half?
One habit. That's it. ๐Ÿ‘‡
I'll read every single one.
Imperfect. Aware. Choosing. ๐ŸŒ’๐Ÿฆš
