Currently reading Barry Hearn’s autobiography. He is Eddie Hearn’s father, but he is the man who started it all from nothing, and is from a very similar background from us lot. He’s a successful individual, and shares some of his life principles that he has learnt during his life. Here are some of the ones that stood out to me.
1) Better to be born lucky than good looking. He basically states here that if you ask all successful people, they all had a slice of luck on the way. We bang on about hard work (which is key), but we all need a bit of luck. We all experience luck in our own way, but you must take advantage of it once it’s dealt.
2) Avoid being a secret - if you’re good, admit it. By no means does this mean be cocky, but if you’re good, we should never hide away from it. This can create opportunity as there is no room to hide.
3) Never let anyone see you down, it achieves nothing. We are fortunate people and others are much worse off, acknowledge good fortune, and as Barry says, “keep that smile on your dile.
4) Pressure is only felt by those who fail. The number one excuse in his eyes. Best moments come after high pressure scenarios, so enjoy it.
These are just some of many life commandments of Bazza. Still currently reading this, but if you lads fancy having a go once I’m done with it, let me know and I’ll hand over the book.
Have a good weekend people
