Hi Yoga Badass Community! I'm so excited you've joined us in this awesome collaboration of yoga practitioners from all over the world in leveling up your practices. This group is intended on helping each of you find new and inspiring ways to practice, even if you don't have much time to do it, or if you're newer to the journey. It doesn't matter what your practice looks like: from one day to the next my personal practice might be traditional Ashtanga, or Power Yoga, or Yin Yoga. Some days I'm taking a quick run out in the sunshine or hiking with my partner in the woods, or hugging my teenager. On other days my practice is much more internal, and I simply sit and meditate or study yoga philosophy. The point is to keep practicing, keep feeding your curiosity, and finding new ways to keep YOUR YOGA fresh. Once you're in the group, don't forget to head over to the Classroom tab and check out the free courses I've unlocked as a thank you for being here. π I think you'll find the 28-Day Handstands & Power Challenge to be a FUN new way to level up your Badassery! (Even newer yoga practitioners have loved this course, by the way!) I am here to support you on your journey. Let's hold each other accountable, and don't forget to ask the Yoga Badass Community for help when you need it. We are all in this thing together, after all. So much love, Jenni Sol

I just wanted to let you know I've decided to cancel yoga classes Friday and Saturday, March 31-April 1 due to my family coming into town for Lily's production of the Little Mermaid. Thank you for your patience with this. *If you've already signed up for classes next weekend, I've gone ahead and put you in to receiveΒ the recordings.* PLEASE REGISTER ANYWAY and I'll send you yoga recordings for your weekend. :) Here's the link for tickets if you are hoping to come for the performance.Β Lily's Ariel on Friday night at 7pm and Saturday at 2pm only. No worriesΒ if you can't make it to her shows; they double casted lead rolls this year due to what we learned in covid times. (I thought that was a good idea.) The other Ariel is amazing too - I'm sure it's going to be good no matter what show you attend. *The Little Mermaid is being held in Kulp Auditorium at the Ithaca High School March 31 - April 2. Please note: it is the FULL Broadway production; expect to be there for 2.5 hours. Much love to you all, Jenni Sol

Typically on Moon Days, we take a day off from our practice. Sometimes I take the day off completely and maybe lounge around if I can, but mostly I take the opportunity to do longer yin holds or deeper meditation. πππππππππ Today is a new moon and while I will be teaching a number of classes, I will be urging my students to work at 50% of their energetic capacity rather than their normal 120%. I invite you to do the same. β€οΈ For many of my students being asked to take things down a number of notches is a serious challenge - asking anyone to take a day off from practice (or anything else) is oftentimes viewed as irresponsible, non-committal, lazy. π± While I used to feel the same way, I am really starting to appreciate the moon days as a way to turn inward, to slow the F down. To put it bluntly, I need my energy (dopamine) levels to be replenished instead of feeling constantly depleted. This is something else I've been feeling in my practice these last few years, so I'm exploring it more. Honoring the moon days is therefore an opportunity to replenish so that we don't burn out. This to me is Yogic mastery. I don't care what anyone says: being a Yoga Badass is not about pushing yourself so hard that you burn out - and potentially get injured in the process. Instead, being a Yoga Badass means to be mature enough in our practices (and in life!) to know when to say when. Do you practice on the Moon Days? Do you notice your energy levels higher or lower around the moon days? Have you ever heard of the Ashtanga Guilt when it comes to practicing (I'm sure you can imagine what that means, especially in regards to this subject). I would love to know your thoughts in the comments below. β€οΈ β€οΈ Jenni Sol

Here's your weekly CORE challenge: Ever try this 'animal movement' thing to increase strength and mobility in the body? I'm telling you, your core will fire up with this one! Let me know your thoughts on this - try it a few times and see if you can get the hands and feet to move at the same time as you pull the belly in. Really work to articulate the placement of the hands and feet as you walk around. What's cool about the Bear Walk is that it teaches us to feel confident on our hands as well as helping us move from our core in order to walk around. You do need to warm up a little bit before trying this, so head into a few cycles of sun salutations first - then channel your inner bear and walk around on your hands and feet. Try up to five minutes a day this week and notice the change in your body and mind. Please comment below what you liked (or didn't like!) about this.

I'm just popping on here to tell you I'm going LIVE on Thursday afternoon at 1:30pm in this group, the Yoga Badass CommunityΒ to give a FREE 15-minute yoga flow and breakdown class. This week we will cover the hop-through/jump back. (Check the Calendar tab to find out more and access the Zoom link!) I'm doing so for two reasons: 1. So many of you are struggling with this transition, 2. There's different ways to do the thing that don't involve "nailing it". I will put up the replay for a few days in this Yoga Badass Community group. Let me know if you're planning on attending by commenting below. I'm also working on setting up a very robust set of learning tools for you all, including access to free and paid classes, LIVE Yoga Badass Breakdown Classes every Thursday, and a library of classes only the Yoga Badass Community has access to. I'm in the process of shifting my offerings here in this group so that I can sincerely give to YOU. (I'm truly trying to create a community of people here who are actively seeking information about yoga. Please note: I am NOT trying to create a free FB group where people join but NEVER see it because of all the extra noise, nor invite people in who won't interact with the community - sorry/not sorry.)

#Congratulations! You are awesome!! Thank you for offering this! It has re-ignited a flame that has been slowly fizzling in my handstand practice.

I altered this just a bit for the things I wanted to play with in the wall practices, but most of it I followed. And it feels good to have such an empowering month down to kickstart a whole nother level of my handstand practice. THANK YOU, JENNI!

Doing some catch up, so I'm combining things depending on where I'm at in my day and where my body is. This morning was warming up with those Lolasana slides and Navasana! Working on the Navasana holds is hard because of the tightness in my back- mainly when I'm curling up tighter. I will work on it! The lolasana hold- I always love those π

Thanks for the encouragement! I've been slammed, but it's been a godo opportunity to just incorporate some of the drills. Here's my early short morning practice with some Eagle crunches, Block holds, and 3 diff wall holds. Thanks for pushing us!

These are also so great!! I am making a list of all these awesome core practices - so much variety and so much awareness- I love how this strengthens the core AND invites me to think about the extension of the opposite leg and arm. π€―

I LIKE THESE! I love how I can feel it everywhere - all through the abdominals because of the extra engagement in the arms and the legs. And somehow, since it's a more focused movement (without the legs super extended for example), I find it easier to tap into the pressing of my low back into the mat --even though it's still HARD! :)
