Posture pt 2
I've been studying recent breakout freshman Drew Burress's swing lately. He does a great job of over emphasizing his load to put his chest in a good position to hit. This allows his chest to be over the plate and forces him to have his chest behind the baseball. This allows you to stay on baseballs and consistently hit them hard. You can see he starts completely upright then loads towards the plate. I've incorporated this into a front toss drill. It's similar to the Arenado drill I've shared in the past. I'll attach a video of his swings so you can see it for yourself. Look at the position he puts his chest in while he loads. https://youtube.com/shorts/ALqpWiLw50w?si=4Udsd_Aee2_HCllV

Bat Speed training
These weighted axe bats were massive for me while training bat speed. I would do rounds of 12 front toss while swinging each bat four times. Starting from heaviest to lightest (Green,Red,Blue). I would do 3 rounds of 12 everyday before picking up my normal bat. This helped me swing harder and allowed me to be fully loose before I jumped into bp or machine work. Focus on swinging as hard as you can with each of these bats.

Posture
This week I have been toying around with my stride. I normally stride slightly closed. I was working on forcing it to be completely straight. That's when I came to the realization that it's not necessarily the stride that I need to fix but my posture. I was striding and just rotating basically cutting off the outside fastball. I could only pull baseballs. But, when I worked on creating a solid base and level posture I was able to let the ball get deep and hit it the other way. Here's a video showing exactly what I'm talking about. https://youtu.be/TXBuqLSDc4c?si=IG9nLUdyIGjNiqkL

Arenado Hitting Drill
This is a great drill focusing on loading into your back hip. You want to use the force your putting into your back hip and exploded forwards into the ball. You gain your power from the ground. This drill gives you a great feeling of force going into your load.

Angled Batting Practice
This is one of my favorite drills when I'm working on staying behind the baseball. It forces you to let the ball get deep and drive it the other way. The key things I think about in these drills are to stay in my legs and keep my chest behind the ball. Here's a video https://youtu.be/Lvoxa6VZ8_U?si=1RMEVmjgca4OYza7
