Welcome to The Money Date — Start Here
Hey! Welcome. Here's how this works. Every week, you and your partner sit down for a 30-minute Money Date — a structured, no-stress conversation about money. I post the prompt every Monday. You do it together. Then you come back here and tell us how it went. The format is simple: 5 minutes to check in, 10 minutes on that week's prompt, 10 minutes to pick one action item, and 5 minutes to set a goal for next week. Ground rules: Use "we" not "you." No bringing up past mistakes. If it gets tense, say "same team." Celebrate the small stuff. Your first step: Head to the Classroom tab and go through "Start Here." It takes 10 minutes and sets you up for everything. Then come back here and introduce yourselves — tell us your names, how long you've been together, and one financial goal you'd love to hit as a couple. Let's build something.

Our first win — we actually sat down and did it
This one is personal. My girlfriend and I ran our first official Money Date last week. Awkward for the first 3 minutes, then it clicked. Found out we were both stressed about the same thing and didn't know it. That alone was worth it. This category is for wins. Big or small. Paid off a credit card? Win. Had a money conversation without it turning into a fight? Win. Finally looked at your bank account together? Win. Drop yours here when you have one.

The Compound Interest Calculator — Run Your Numbers
This is the tool that started everything. Pick a spending habit you and your partner share, and see what that money becomes if you invest it instead. Your $7 morning coffee. Your $45 takeout nights. Your $200 impulse shopping trips. Run the numbers and see what they turn into over 10, 20, 30 years. Run yours here: [paste your calculator link] Drop your result below — what surprised you?

Week 1: The Foundation — Where Are We Starting?
This is your first Money Date prompt. Do this one with your partner this week. Tonight you're getting honest about your starting point. No shame, no judgment — just clarity. Open with this: "On a scale of 1-10, how comfortable do you feel talking about money with me right now?" Then work through these together: What's your combined monthly income after taxes? What are your fixed monthly expenses? Do either of you have debt — how much and what kind? Do you have any savings or an emergency fund? What's one money habit you're proud of, and one you want to change? This week's rule: No shame zone. Whatever the numbers are, they're just a starting point. Action item: Write down your combined net worth (assets minus debts). Even if it's negative. That's your Day 1 number. Come back here when you're done and tell us how it went.
