I'd love to hear about your best speaking gig and why it was your best one!
Mine was speaking on a cruise ship. The activities director escorted me into the movie theater and when I looked at the audience there were about 2,500 people there! It was the largest audience I had spoken to at that point. I was so nervous I nearly panicked! But I focused on them and not me! I asked them who had been married more than 5 years, 10, 15 etc until I got to 35 years and one man's hand was still held up. I walked up to him and asked him what his secret was and he said, without missing a beat, "I'm deaf!"
The audience broke out in a roar of laughter and set the stage for me! I relied on that memory many times after whenever I became nervous in front of an audience.
