I want to thank for the inspiration on this post about alignment. She's currently working on a project related to this, and I cannot wait to promote it :-) In the meantime, check out her group here:
But I'm writing on this not only because of this inspiration but also because it comes up quite a lot in my work and in talking to others in general and just in day to day living...
So what does alignment actually mean?
Alignment is when your thoughts, feelings, values, and actions are in sync. You’re not pretending, hiding, performing, or overexplaining. There's a sense of peace/calm that comes with this. Even when things are hard, there's a level of peace in it.
When you’re out of alignment, everything feels heavier, like your energy is leaking somewhere. It feels more tense, there's more inner friction, there's a sense that something is off.
💫 When You’re in Alignment:
✨ You feel calm and grounded
✨ You make choices that match your values
✨ Your “yes” and “no” feel clear
✨ You can rest without guilt
✨ You feel authentic/real in relationships
Alignment feels like taking a deep breath.
⚡ When You’re Out of Alignment:
-You feel drained or restless
- You say “yes” when you want to say “no”
-You overthink or overexplain (guilty of this!)
-You avoid quiet because it feels uncomfortable
💔 You feel disconnected from what you truly need..
⭐How to Tune Back In:
-Pause for body check-ins: notice tension, tightness, breath
-Ask yourself: “What do I need right now?” "what do I REALLY need?"
-Journal or talk out your feelings
- Revisit your core values (I can't emphasize this one enough)
-Seek therapy or reflective conversations when things feel unclear
🌼 A Therapist’s Note:
Alignment isn’t about being perfectly balanced.
It’s about noticing when you’ve drifted and gently using those as indicators to recalibrate.
Question to ponder: What helps you reconnect when you’re out of alignment? Are there areas in your life that would benefit from alignment?
