So as you all know, the IFRA has started heavily regulating and placing bans on benzaldehyde, which is a key ingredient in making cherry accords, and gives the sharp, medicinal, punchy edge to an accord of cherry liqueur. This is a big problem for me, because one of my upcoming flagship fragrances will be heavily relying on a blend of cherry liqueur, tobacco, jasmine, pink pepper, and rose, and the liqueur accord gives it a punchy opening. I’m trying to recreate this opening, while saving costs a bit, and stick to the original DNA. What I’ve been working on so far is a micro dosage of bitter orange, to give some bitterness. I’ve also been looking at anisaldehyde, which is spicy and punchy, and could go well with pink pepper and other spices present, as well as beta damascone. I added a note of plum to the opening as well for added richness, and I think could blend well with beta damascone. I’m still quite new to perfumery, but could you help me out please? Thank you.
